What is Plant Slant?

From the Blue Zones Project: While most centenarians in Blue Zones® areas enjoy meat only on special occasions, all of them eat a plant-based diet packed with a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and beans. Rich in disease-fighting nutrients, fava, black beans, soy, and lentils are the cornerstone of their diets.

For us, plant slant was just the beginning. We had no idea that we were on a journey to eliminate meat at that time in our lives. We slowly reduced the frequency that we ate meat and the size of the piece of meat (I seem to remember a recommendation for your meat to be the size of a deck of cards). At the same time, we filled our plate with beans and veggies.

And then we watched the Forks over Knives documentary and the rest is history. Our journey had begun.

We are all different and you are probably at different points of your own journeys or you may be ready to take that all important first step. For us, Plant Slant was just the beginning and the transition from the Standard American Diet (SAD) to one of eliminating meat, dairy, etc. Follow us and together we will all strive to be the best versions of ourselves as possible. Check out our stories and tips under Blog.

Welcome, your journey has now begun!

How You Can Make a Difference in the Journey

You came to us for a reason. You are either ready to start your own journey or you are already on one. Whatever your reason for being here, it is time to be the best version of YOU that you can possibly be. Let's do this together! We all have a voice and we are all making an impact. Need an example? Just look at the dairy aisle in your local grocery store. How many different kinds of plant-based milks do you see? The selection is amazing. The choices you make everyday have a huge impact on supply and demand. Choose wisely and be healthy. Let your voices be heard!

We also hope that you will be role models and ambassadors of a plant slant lifestyle. We all have our centers of influence and we are asking you to spread the word and help others.

Enjoy the journey!
