The perfect gift this Valentine’s Day is the gift of heart health. Along with Valentine’s Day, February marks American Heart Month, a great time to commit to a healthy lifestyle and make small changes that can lead to a lifetime of heart health.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
This is why we both support the National American Heart Association (AHA). We believe that by changing your lifestyle you can protect your heart. Our Plant Slant Journey has helped us both to focus on our heart health. Our path was forever changed when we learned how to control high cholesterol and high blood pressure by eating a whole food plant based diet.
In addition to eating right, the American Heart Association AHA and our friends at the Blue Zones Project (BZP) continue to make it known that physical activity is also critical to your health. Move More and Move Naturally are mantra’s we are all becoming accustomed to. Even my Apple watch reminds me to “move” if I am sitting for too long, something that is pretty easy to do when you are a blogger! We are looking forward seeing hundreds of friends and family at the Estero Heart Health Wellness Festival and Walk on Saturday, Feb 17th. This is actually our second year as co-chairs of the walk and we love being part of its success. Over 22 booths will be represented, showcasing wellness.
